Check out my album on Piney Run on my page here for some of our previous PR catches.

John...Piney Run is a county-owned park and lake that has special restrictions on it for boating and day-use. I worked there for the last 11 years of my career and got a pretty good overview of the fishery and was in on many stocking and electroshock surveys on the fish population. I organized and ran many tournaments on the lake and put structures throughout it's 300 acres.

Drawbacks are lofty park entry fees and a quagmire of regulations. However, it remains one of the premier, under-the-radar, small lake fisheries in the East. It's worth a couple trips a year for a shot at 20 pound plus stripers, 6 pound bass, 15 inch crappies, jumbo yellow perch and big channel cats. Trolling motors only and closed to boating from Nov to April 1st.

Indeed...it was 28 here in the AM and we had 15-20 mph winds all afternoon. One other bite on a 10 inch shiner, and we believe that was a bass too as the striper bite has temporarily shut down. Brandon got a 27 pound striper here this past Sunday and lost another big fish.

It is not unusual to catch a trophy bass while trolling for stripers at Piney Run or Liberty Reservoir during the spring.
