Bugle Mouth Bass - thats a hoot!
Nice fish, brother.
Thanks guys! This was a spawned out female that might have gone close to thirty if I had caught her a month earlier. Still took over 30 minutes to land, as I was by myself. She got into my other rod, buried me in a weed bed, and I had to wade out and get her in the net. Quite a fight!
Hey Chris, I've seen those monster carp you catch...hoping to get there soon!
Greg...I have been using artificial/flavored corn kernels made by Enterprise. Our biggest fish have come on the tutti-frutti flavor on a # 6 hook and hair rig after prebaiting an area. You can really get deep into this carp thing, as I am finding out! The best advice I can give you is to fish lakes/rivers that have lots of them and in still waters, learn to coax them in by 'spodding' that is, distributing feed corn that has been flavored overnight in a water solution mixed with regular or brown sugar. The spod will enable you to cast far and broadcast lots of corn with a 8-9 ft surf rod. Do this a couple times before you fish the artificial corn and see if you don't get some takes.
Also, I use strike alarms and baitrunner reels set at the lightest tension. When a spooky carp picks up a baoit, and then feels the tension of the weight, it spooks and bolts for saftey. By this time the carp has usually hooked itself with the hair rig, and the alarm is screaming!
Cool catch ! I love catching those Bugle Mouthed Bass :)
Continued success to you.

Good one! Those big carp can give you a work out.
Got one around 10 pounds yesterday in current. Thought I had a Walleye the way it fought.
Jim,
Do you use Boilies to catch your carp? Just curious. they are great fighters and fun to catch, but haven't fished for them in a long time.
Any pointers? Nice fish!
