Pink is an auto attractant color, representing opportunistic salmon eggs, extremely high in proteins, which will trigger the feeding reflexes. Other than that, it's representing bleeding/injured creatures, as well as local mating color of shrimps/crawdads during peak mating season. Pink and red infused color baits are the go to color during high active seasons. My coworker's father work as a fishery biologist, so, info like this come in abundant.

Not sure what the pink represents in the wild but these fish have been crushing this presentation......

OH LEO, DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE ROOM FOR STUFF , it will come later in your life and I told you about bamboo!!! GET A WONDEROD and forget all the other stuff.  THE HAY DAY OF QUALITY U.S. STUFF was about 40+ years ago Leo . Heddon , Garcia, and Shakespeare were the Giants back then and those days will never be seen again, sadly. All we can do is relish the past and get the old stuff when it shows up , which is what I've been doing. There is something to be said for stuff back then , IT WAS MADE TO LAST by people who had pride in what they did.
A story has been told about OLD MAN SHAKEPEARE HIMSELF. He had a tip of a wonderod fly rod hooked to the front door of his shop in Michigan so that it would fully flex each time the door was opened. He did it to test the ability of the fiberglass to flex repeatedly . It broke one day after only 40,000 such flexes. Apparently he went absolutely beserk and had some discussions with Dr. Howald WHO was the inventor or the Howald process of making the Wonderods.  Oh well those days of caring about what and how things are made are gone , BUT NOT FORGOTTEN , by old Dudes like me and a few others. I ponder  how many graphite rods of today could take the abuse of the old stuff and last 40-50 years with no major problems.

Tooty, vintage is another way of saying the gears were built to last. I missed that about the U.S. made products. Now, it's crappy China-ready-to-use-and-break-within-a-few days. I had a chance to use vintage gears from my uncle's and friends' stashes. Trust me, I rather own a few vintage than than latest technology. That's why I love bamboo, but man, it' costs an arm and a leg. I can't wait until I can have my own private room for my collections.

Leo I could show you a couple things but remember I'M VINTAGE JUST LIKE MY EQUIPMENT  THAT I USE!!!!

Comment by Leo Nguyen on May 20, 2012 at 10:27am

Uh huh..sure Tooty. Jeffrey, check the bumpers and tires' sidewalls for those drifting and asphalt peeling evident, and take a lot of photo. Tooty drives slow..HAH!

HEY LEO,

Remember that there are no masters at fly casting , ONLY PEOPLE AT DIFFERENT LEVELS OF ABILITY. I'm in the mid range of ability and am quite sure you probably sell yourself short  on the ability end of things.

Comment by DAVID L EITUTIS on May 20, 2012 at 10:24am

HEY JEFFREY,
DO YOU MEAN TO TELL ME there is an empty spot in you boat for an old dude? I could be there in a couple days!!!!!! I drive slow even when I'm not pulling a boat!

Comment by Leo Nguyen on May 20, 2012 at 10:09am

Tooty, I wish I'm the only to teach you casting techniques. I'm more like a stiff zombie trying to cast rather than the master on his bad day.

Jeffrey, your invite has been heard and acknowledged. Will try to find an excuse to get out there to meet all the masters.
