You're right and not near the pressure the cats get in the Santee Cooper Lakes....I'm partial to good Channel Catfishing. Hope everything works out for you guys...I just had to get out for a little while today after feeling like a hostage all week............I had a friend catch some gills on the Edisto down near Charleston this weekend so things are waking up down South!

I was up today, inspecting the house we are trying to get, Jeff. It is outside of Batesburg, SC and according to google maps, it's just under 15 miles from Lake Murray, SC. Some good cat-fishing is to be had up there.

Great looking young fish, still has his spots. I agree, very tasty.

Well said David.....I'll remember that if we ever get to go out together....got some sweet spots to catch channel cats almost year round....Tasty is an understatement......I go for Channel Cat weekly in South Carolina and my family and friends have adjusted well!

Beauty fish! Love it, Jeff.

I think of the channel cat as the pre-eminent southern fish. Lots of people chase largemouth bass and lets face it - bluegill are worth it. But in terms of numbers and simplicity, not to mention table excellence, it is hard to beat the channel cat. I am keeping my fingers crossed for some jugging this season.

In my humble opinion, the best type and size of catfish to eat is a couple pound Channel Cat Bill.............
