Jim,

Thanks for the info.  I once caught a bass like that, and I asked an old timer about it, and that was his answer.  I do think that farm pond might have had an over abundance of crappie and big bluegill in it though.  Unfortunately,  the next winter some people icefished it and took out a ton of big blue gill and crappie. Thanks again!!!

David...the pond is not neccessarily overstocked, it is just that, at this current time, this fish is just a bit on the skinny side, which means it is either having a hard time feeding efficiently or it could have a desease or illness that may affect it's feeding.  There are plenty of small bluegills in this lake for forage and lots of bullfrogs as well. My best guess is that this fish grew quickly as a young fish and then had to compete with the high density of bass of various sizes in the pond. I caught several 2 pounders that were fat and sassy along with another 4 pounder that was also on the light side.

Vince...the StankX Stix are very similar to the Senko in both texture and action. I had tried wacky-rigged but caught  only one small one. Then, I rigged it in-line on a #2 offset worm hook. When I simply dropped the worm in the water to see how it would tract, this fish hit it, with just 3 feet of line from the rod tip! Crazy battle ensued...great fun!

Are these like a Yamamoto Senko worm?  Did you rig it Wacky style?

Jim,

If the bass is long and skinny, with a big mouth like this one, isn't that a sign of the pond being overstocked.  I am just asking, because you are the expert.

Derrick...got her on a 4.25 inch Stank X Stix, Bluegilla color. These are the best stick worms I have ever used, and I have tried them all. Check out StankXBaits website for Travis Crosman's great line of plastics for all species. Help out the little guy!
