Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Didn't get much fishing in during late July and most of August. Over the weekend I finally got a chance to go out and this was the big fish of the day, a nice female.

Thanks for the tip Allen, I'll have to try it out.

Adam, if you can, try throwing some bait on a slip-float out almost into where the fountain water splashes back down.  Those fountains provide both aeration and cooling by evaporation.  Depending on where the intake for the impeller for the fountain is, it might even help pull stagnant water from the bottom up, and keep it all circulating.

Try all depths.  Especially near the bottom.  That's what I like about slip-floats.  Easy to cast the rig, even when you're fishing 10' or more deep.

And Leo, the pond is probably about 2 or 3 acres and has a few fountains in it, and it's public water.

Very nice catch. How big was this water body? Some major aeration activity in the background.
