Those Pickerel are probably in good shape then! I am of the conviction that small snakes ,frogs and newts are prime Pickerel bait .

Plenty of pickerel here.....had two of those newts grab the bait and hang on for dear life. Small plastic lizards should work great there.

Are there any Chain Pickerel in that pond? Those salamanders/Newts are in trouble if there are!

These little red-spotted newts are everywhere in a pond I fish at.
