Sharon, I've got some other very colorful Bluegill, including another "Purple Coppernose" and a "Blue Coppernose", in my photos...check them out. Good old Southern California Bluegill have some crazy colors!

That is the most beautiful fish I've ever seen, it could be a movie star on saving Nemo II. I'm going to switch to straight coppernose.

No... not mine, but it is a fish that represents most big Lake Perris Bluegills. (and a very cool pic too.) I have caught and seen several other very large BGs there that have been caught on small Rapala-like lures, usually by fishermen trolling for trout. The previous lake record of 3 lbs. was caught on a tiny Bagley Bang-0-Minnow. We have caught large Bluegill that coughed up small shad and also baby bass, so the big ones are eating smaller fish.
