I can't answer that question, Ethan, but I do know that many lepomids (bluegill, greenies, redears, etc.) will have some variable genetics in the form of hybridization from previous generations. I think it's relatively common to see a fish that's got a little green sunfish in him, or a little bluegill, etc. That being said, I'm not experienced enough to tell by looking at Zig's fish. It sure is a beauty, though.
To me this punmkinseed looks weird or seems to have an odd shape. I am from Texas so I dont see those except in pictures. He looks long and skinny. It could just be the shadows or the fact I am not familar with the pumkinseed. One of my fishing dreams/goals is to catch a pumkinseed. Also can anyone tell me what sex this is and how they can tell?
This is a baby for Pa.
I had just found this northern Pa., natural pond. I've been told by more then one(1) source there are fish of epic sizes within its' waters.
We will return to find out!!
