Too warm (high 50s here today) to set at home even if it is raining. Took the old "Sport King" bamboo rod with me and managed to catch a bluegill to start the year's adventures.

MIKE;; IF YOU CAN EVER FIND;; GOOD PORKUPINE QUILLS;;; THEY MAKE FANTASTIC FISHING FLOATS ; I USE MINE WITH FLY RODS ! LORD OF THE FLY RODS;; TURNED ME ONTO THEM ! ROLL CASTING THEM;; IS A BREEZE !!

I was using a pheasant tail nymph tied the traditional way (just copper wire and pheasant tail) to get deep (fishing in 3-4' of water). Didn't take long to catch one, then I headed for the truck to get out of the rain. A sudden decision to give it a try and I didn't have my good rain gear with me.
