Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

20150709-WIXOM LAKE KAYAK- HERBICIDES AND DIRTY WATER= POOR FISHING

20150709-Experienced some of the dirtiest water so far this season. Floating plant debris everywhere from the herbicide campaign of the past couple days. I hate fishing on the lakes during this period. A complete turnoff for the fish. The heavy cover gilling pattern ive been enjoying this past few days is gone. The fish have just about left the neighborhood except for a few stray LMB’s and a dink SMB. Nice fight on any tackle especially the UL rods.

slip stinker;; im afraid old hickory lake is like that all the time;; very stained water; we get a lot of floating debre;  old hickory;; is actually goverened by 2 dams; one being percy preist ; other is old hickory dam.  water if constantly fluctating  up and down;; sends a LOT of debre; have to be extremly careful on this lake!

The lake I was fishing this last week you could see 10' down or better, also it was clean water

Carl is Old Hickory Lake like that all the time? lakes up north hear usually get gin clear. thats what im used to fishing. the dirty water i was referring to on my lake was floating debris from the boat traffic as well as the herbicide weed kill off. i could hardly make a decent presentation

most of the visible weeds are knocked down and decaying... yep not good.

im now resorting to my electronics finding the deeper weed beds not visible from the surface .. found this sweet spot on an inside turn of the original creek channel with weeds and stumps. tough to fish since im always on display from the cottages and homes on the other side of the channel. i catch a few fish and move on... its a big fish spot.

That's a shame.

Several pond owners I know treat their waters with herbicides, and fishing can take a downturn for even several weeks as the weed types die off slowly. Bummer.
