20150515-WIXOM LAKE-New UL break - in

20150515-its been a while since I posted… the tow vehicle will be down for awhile… so my numbers will be greatly reduced. It’s nice to know that I can take a nice stroll down to the bridge wet a line and feel a tug.
I ordered a 5.5 Daiwa Spinmatic UL to replace an old Berkley Cherry Wood rod that has caught many fish but I felt it was time to move up. I was greatly impressed with the 7-0 and 8-0 footer and felt the 2pc 5-6 footer would work out well. Loaded up the Daiwa Cross fire 500 reel with 4-0lb Power Pro braid and proceeded to the bridge to start the break in.
I only had about 40 mins to fish and I started to session with some UL crappie jigs to test the bite and ended up with two Lil perch. Felt good and sensitive… an overall good feel for the combo so far. Put a small beetle spin on and hooked up with a 14.5” smallmouth with an active jump. Fish took out some line like a steelhead and finally brought her to net.
Nice little introduction into the arsenal.
