Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

20150415~I was finally able to launch my kayak and was greeted at the lake edge with some incredibly dirty water… there is a spring turn over … some lakes experience it more than others. A test o f a white jhig disappeared after about six inches… nice. I was here with other ulterior motives other than fishing. So I continued launching the kayak and tuning the new sonar the Elite 4 HDI. Sweet little machine. After doing some paddling I found schools of fish deep along the breaks adjacent to some ideal looking spawning bays. A 13” class crappie was picked out of the school with an ice rig and tungsten jig tipped with a pink Gulp Waxie. Could not for the life of me coax another hit. So I paddled the shoreline took some pictures and left. Water temp was at low 50s and surprisingly dirty water… give it a week or two to clear.

thanks Carl... very, very glad to see any actual fish on this outing... safe to say the sonar and vertical jigging saved a skunking on this recon trip.
