Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

20150313—Fishing now for a few fish dinners I decide to fish for the yellow perch today at the deep breaks and basins at the feeder creek entrances. Found plenty of schooling perch and shiners. Small perch but I kept about 12 decent 7-8 inchers. Had fun catching many small perch but the braggers proved once again to be hard to pin down. Small tungsten jigs tipped with wigglers were the ticket. Majority of the fish were in the 19 to 20 ft depth.
I was very impressed with the sensitivity of the setup… caught a few shiners at the 20 ft mark no problem detecting the bite using straight fluorocarbon at 2# test
check out the concentration of heavy vehicles out in 30ft of water on 20" of ice!

i like the way you think Jim.... a recent discussion i had with the dnr while they were checking licenses... they indicated there was an overabundance of small perch in the lake and anglers should focus on them. ive been keeping alot of little ones... tough to clean but they were tasty

Thats the fish you want to harvest...generally, panfish that are a 2 to 3 inches short of your top tier fish in the system. Good job...enjoy the good eats.
