it was driving me nuts to watch them come up and look at the bait sniff it and turn away... i believe the scent worked for me that day by what i saw on the sounder and their reactions

Bait Mate -- smells like anise oil and has sparkles in it... stays on the bait well... works great on plastics... my favoriter smallmouth scent.

What kind of scent did you use Slip?

Lots of slushy snow on the ice last two times out and another 8" after last night . It must be dark as a dungeon down there for fish to try to see .Deadsticking was useless and the fish I did catch and attract reacted to movement jigging presentations .

i told my wife i was going to keep about 10 slot limit gills to fry for the dinner on the last outing... ended up being ten midgets.they must know... lol. same as you i could spot them on the sounder but they rejected the offerings of live waxies or gulp... then i put some scent on tiny pieces of gulp on the tip of the jig hook and then i started to get responses. however it started getting later in the afternoon and my bite start 4-6pm.

Hey Guys getting on top of the fish yesterday was no problem .The flasher showed activity but getting them to hit was hard . Looked to me like lots of sniffing around my bait but they weren't in the mood for eating ! I tried waxies which caught the only 2 fish , Shiner heads on a flutter spoon (my Crappie go to) ,mealworms and Gulp chartreuse waxies. Not even the usual Perch were around . A big disappointment as I usually do well fishing 2-5 this time of year in that spot .
