Do you love big bluegill?
Berkley Lightning Rod 6'ft medium light fast tip with a somewhat beefy butt. its main function will be pitchin docks bridges and weed pockets with wacky style worm rigs. with or without weights. but must be able to cast long distances along weed edges. the second fish i caught with this thing was a small pike and immediately buried itself in the grass. end result 1 3lb pike and a 30 pound ball of grass. thank you red vermillion power pro line at 30 lbs.
the newly designed Mitchell 300 is one sweet reel. smooth as silk. always have been a fan of Mitchell 300's since the early eighties

Jeff its got a very smooth drag... i keep a light drag not because of fear of breaking the line ( i use straight braid with no leader) but of pulling hooks free because of no stretch.
thanks Nathan it is a very sensitive setup as a whole. i wish the front cork handle was a little longer though, but very comfortable to use.
Jim those LM sure are healthy in your neck of the woods. good tips on drag! i love hooking into a LM when panfishing... it never fails...id have my 4.5 ft micro light's drag singing to a 4lb bass
I have been using the smaller Pflueger, Shakesphere and Quantum spinning reels with good success and I prefer the front drag systems...no issues with big pullage from largemouths up to 6 pounds and channel cats to 8. Here are a couple nice ones on 2 lb Trout Magnet SOS Green mono this season.
Keep in mind also that the drag on any spinning reel will change each day, and into the cooler, evening or morning hours, due to humidity and temperature changes. I check my drags before each outing, first cast, to make sure the tension and tightness has not decreased or seized up due to climatic changes. Always check them when you first hit the water, as it may well cost, or save, a big fish for you.
Nice setup, does the exposed blank increase sensitivity noticeably?
What's the drag like? I want my reels to have super smooth drags. Many "name brand" spinning reels have lousy drag systems that bind and grab when a large fish makes a run. A good way to have your line break, especially when using very light lines.
