Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Caught my first Trout this morning. Nice stocker Rainbow on a Super Duper spoon. Had to retrieve the spoon slowly, almost on the bottom. Lots of follows, only to have the fish see the fishermen and swim off.

That's me as well.  I have a big red soft-side tackle bag that hold 4 big plano boxes, and one smaller plano box, plus other goodies in the side pockets.  That particular box currently stays in my van as a way to organize most of my tackle.  I have a nice backpack that holds 2 big plano boxes, 3 in a pinch, along with stuff in the side pockets.  I currently have 5 big plano boxes, and just shuffle through them as needed for the backpack, which goes with me when bank fishing.

I've got gear scattered throughout the bigger boxes.  One for Catfish, one for Panfish/Trout, one for big Stripers, and two for various Morone and black bass species.  I have a smaller plano box that is my "trolling" box, with a spread of lures for trolling.  I use a smaller box for that as it fits under a bungee in the cockpit of my kayak.

As for the spoons, I've learned something in the past few days.  The smaller spoons will have a couple different actions.  Either they move through the water "head-up", wobbling from side-to-side, or the move "head-up", spinning around the long axis of the lure just like an in-line spinnerbait.  I realized that the baits that would spin all had plain treble hooks, while the ones that had dressed treble hooks would never spin.  I've since modified the hooks on my spoons by adding some marabou to them.

Id like to take a look in your tackle box, John. I'll bet it's chock full of goodies!

Other fish DO hit them, John. Ive gotten a bass on one... alright, that only counts as one fish. But it still counts! LOL

I have a few super dupers and have never caught anything on one yet ,maybe because it's there in the box but I opt for my favs and having only tied it on a few times.I'll have to give it a try again in David and Allens honor ! Trout for me hit the Silver Hildebrandt flutter spoon ,the Silver Acme Fiord and the Dardevle Midget(red and White )

The ol' Super Duper, eh? Love that lure.

Perfect eating. Great job catching on a spoon. Stockers, unless they forage on their own for about 3 months, will not chase after spoons.

I saw a couple Trout that were bigger!  Just minutes after I landed this one.
