The Heddon Tiny Torpedo , got nudged about 4 x but no hookups .Trout were jumping but I had nothing they were interested in. Witnessed two Bald Eagles , snake , and turtle also.Water temp =76 deg at 11:45 am

Jim Gronaw , the vertical back bars and peculiar translucent coloring on the sides near the top had me thinking right away that this was different somehow from a chain Pickerel but your thought crossed my mind as well .Unfortunately the hues of the top and upper side didn't show up in the pic . Those two black bars from the eyes to the tip of the snout also was the 1st time I've noticed that .Now I have to go through a bunch of Chain Pickerel pics to see if they have those snout bars .The black bars through the eyes and cheek were like a chain Pickerel . This fish wasn't measured but I guess it was 8 or 9 inches .

Jim Cosgrove , do you concur this is a GRASS PICKEREL?

I realize coloring isn't the best indicator but those vertical bars are what make me think its a Grass Pickerel.

Here's another pic vaguely showing the reddish brown hue of the top /sides I thought was unusual. http://bigbluegill.com/photo/1st-ever-grass-pickerel/prev?context=user

Very cool fish.

Or...could it be a juvenile chain pickerel? I really wouldn't know...neat fish, though!

Yes it did , hope the poor lil' guy is ok. I was not expecting a mini sized bully. I was casting over weeds for what I thought might interest Bass and Chain Pickerel.
