Walt  ,I'm sure you know better than I do but that still looks like a GSF to me .If I was to agree tho it does have BG body girth . The fins are GSF like .The Ear flap looks eaten up !!?? The mouth might be bigger than this photo reveals . 80% GREENIE 20% BG?

That's a hybrid bluegill. A green sunfish would have a significantly larger mouth, almost the size of a largemouth's, and would also be more elongated like a bass. Great catch though - looks like fun!

I caught the biggest one today on a popper, caught most on a fly I actually tied up for redfish in texas, and a few on a woolybugger, and some on a small gold spoon. I was using size #8 Gamakastu hooks and that is what a lot of the green sunfish and the bluegill took today, I only caught two bluegill that were 9" so didn't get pics of them, green sunfish just dwarf even the 10" bluegill I catch here, and they are pretty good eating.
