Nice one John!

Now I'm going to be watching the calendar. They usually stock rainbows in the local lake sometime early in March. They don't survive the summer temps, so I don't feel a bit guilty when I take a limit (5) to eat.

It's often very windy, and I often use a "Carolina Rig" and the floating trout dough to keep the bait in the fish zone and off the bottom. I even bought one of those "catapult" outfits (chumming slingshot) to launch some corn for chum. I use an Okuma ABF20 baitrunner reel for that fishing. Best hook I've found is a kahle hook in size 10-14. Solid hookups and very few toss the hook when they go aerial with the fight.

My favorite years are when we get a heavy rain after they stock them. Some go over the spillway into the deep hole (old rock quarry) the spillway empties into. After a few days (when the current drops a little) I can catch them there on the fly rod. Just drift about any bluegill fly in my box in the current edge where the water runs in from the spillway, and it's soon "fish on!".
