I'm learning that the hard way not that I keep many fish I'm talking about my pond. I tell everyone that fishes it keep all the small bass and catfish but through the bluegills back. I did have the catfish part right I need to get them out. I was told to keep the smaller bass and get rid of the big bass cause they eat bigger bluegills and that I can keep the medium gills to eat and never eat big males. I'm learning I wished I'd known all that when I had my pond dug. So this year I will be changing my strategy. Again keep the pics coming and GOOD FISHIN...

Thanks Dick! If I keep gills to eat, which is very rare, Everything over 9" returns to the water! Especially the male gills! They are the ones that carry the genetics and push non-dominate males off the nests.

Nice job Patrick we should all model after you. If we keep everything we caught our fishery would not be replenished especially with the tools of today and even getting better all the time the fish really don't have much of a chance. We all need to get what we need for our meals and practice catch and release as I know most in the BBG do. Patrick keep your pics and knowledge coming we enjoy them all. GOOD FISHIN..

Thanks guys! I have a rule...1 gill over 9". I never keep a limit. If I do keep fish to eat it is only 5 gills 9" or less.
