Thanks Slip! Took a crawling retrieve  with subtle  rod tip movement . Once hooked on that 4#test he pulled some drag a few times before I landed him . Only fish that day but I felt like I earned him  walking through pricker bushes to get to him! Worm tip spoons last year were working also in November around Thanksgiving at this same lake

Absolutely Slip the 7,1/2 '  and 8' rods have helped me fishing from  steep rip rap too. Here's last years Pickerel that was my last fish of the year .I was actually fishing in similar conditions to yours here but was wading .Used a short rod here .

just shore fishing a few of my favorite shoreline spots cat tails are high the 7ft rod comes in handy
