That is a beast! Like we've discussed before, northern gills have the capacity to grow just as  large as the southern fish do. For both specimens it comes down to a few, key factors that play huge roles in determining how big a bluegill may get.

What an incredible bluegill!  Can you tell us more about the lake this was caught from, i.e. average depth, natural forage present, fishing pressure, etc?

yes Jim very late ice, so late the shore line was very sketchy but was well worth it!! thanks
