i don't have many 9's or 10's in my local lakes either slip sinker maybe some stocked ponds with hybrids and well fed tame fish  out of my reach im happy with 7" and 8" on the flyrod and i do have some local lakes that are great for smallies i do have a local lake that gave up a state record gill though SaltFork state park  12 3/4 " and over 3 # which is the same state park that has regular bigfoot sightings    ")

thanks guys

Yep Tinknocker both fish close to my heart... i just wish i was in a better neighborhood for B'Gill. 9" ers are hard to come by. 10 is like winning the lotto.

i have been asked several times slip ... given inch for inch which fights the hardest the SMB or the B'Gill?...

both fight hard but completely different battles... i fish strictly UL equipment nowadays due to arm and neck pain. my equalizer on the light tackle is braid TGFB! (thank god for braid) i use UL and now fish strictly targeting panfish because it conserves arm pain and im after the frequent battle. Put one of these SMB on UL tackle and you have fights of a lifetime. The drag sings and screams and the aerobatics are phenomenal. I catch them frequently because I’m in their area and I’m fishing 1.5" and 2" jigs… they are going to hit. If you are fishing 2 or 4# mono I feel sorry for you LOL!

the B’Gill at every level is a great battle ... but different. It is down deep with wide circles. They have embarrassed me at several occasions where i screamed get the net and out surfaces a 7.5" gill. Hands down great battlers. To me the SMB have the nod... by just a tad
