WOW. Now that's a rod that will be talked about from generation to generation. Imagine the spiritual energy passed down in that rod.

Thanks Vince and if this rod was still in service today it'd still be catching gills and Crappies just like it did for the last 60 years almost.........Yup I feel the same way about him and it was an honor to call him friend.

That is one beautiful rod, Tooty. If that rod could only talk, I bet there are many decades of memories attached to that one. You were really blessed to have known him.

UNCLE DUD WAS the best fisherman I had the pleasure of knowing. WHen he found out I could make or work on rods he fetched this one outta his old garage.  He had it laid across  wall studs on nails. It had been in a permanent bend for at least 25 yrs. When I took it down it didn't have a set in it and completely reworked it for him. He said he fed his young family with it for the first two years of marriage .
It was an 8' Action Rod Solid glass from long ago. I spruced it up some with a tartan wrap , one piece of thread at a time, not the new ready made ones you can get. I did this rod for him about 18 years ago now and when he passed I went to the funeral and wake and all and delivered one of the Eulogys for him .

We all went back to Unc's cabin on Harts Lake Indiana and his son Buckshot presented it to me and said I should have it. Been in my sons safe now for years after he got married and will be in this family forever now.........
