Outstanding job on releasing those big fish! Congrats!

Yep, same here in Minnesota. Lakes have to be overlooked or over sized in order to grow anything over 9".

10.25 is one record in my book. WOW! Rare length for California water, unless the lake is completely hidden from normal fishing activities. I do know one of the lakes here that has been closed to the outside, regularly stocked fishes, and quite a few monsters exist in that lake. SoCal folks know of the Lake Norconian, a military base lake, which probably has genetic mutated monsters there. A military personnel reported to have caught a nice 3.5lbs gill there, or better yet, close to 20lbs bass. I screamed out in disbelief when I heard that. However, a second lake called Lake Matthew hold some bizarre fishes sizes as well, all due to no fishing for outsider allow. 45lbs striper, 29lbs green bass, close to 120lbs cat, and a whopping 3lbs+ either gill or crappie. Monstrous.

10.25 inches is a trophy in my book?  Very, very nice specimen.
