I think the gills are late on the beds due to the long winter and cold spring

I could see the river from the highway and always wanted to fish it, every time i went by i said to Sandy I'd love to fish that, and glad we did.

I had to go up a river 3.5 miles and over a beaver dam to get in there lucky the beaver dam had 2.5 ft of water over it, like a breach in it , the pond is 30 acres small shallow pond   , the neat thing I use to ski down hill at the ski slope when I was a teenager, I never new the pond was there at the base of the slope. thanks for the feed back Mark

i am in no illinois and have seen them on beds in july many times after spawning in june,not as many as the first spawn but sunfish on the beds for sure,have also seen them in early may.have heard about august spawns but have not seen it myself.in the lake michigan harbors while perch fishing, i have seen bass on beds in august as it takes that long for the water to warm some years

Well, after nearly 60 years of fishing-the vast majority of it in northern Wisconsin-the idea of fish spawning more than once a year is totally foreign and something I've never before heard mention of!

Mark;

Your sunfish have yet to spawn? Our bluegill and other panfish spawned in very early June, which was late for here because of the cold and long winter-the ice went out on my favorite lake around May 15th-a full month late.

I see some sunfish on beds on my way to the pond, have to target them next time
