HEY STEVE AND JACOB WELCOME to one of my groups and Steve I know ya got lots of cover in Florida to show us all and glad to have you in the group along with all the rest .........
Hey Eric, glad to have ya in this group of mine and can't wait for spring to see some of your pics of cover we like to fish for the gills etc. Snowing here today and weather man said we only had another few weeks of this stuff to look forward to . Last year at this time we had a heat wave about 80 degrees and caught lots of crappies then , NOT THIS YEAR..........
HEY DILLY GLAD you were able to get some more ponds to fish and maybe this year we can get together finally. DIdn't rejoin the pond at Mineral this year , too far away for me ......
Hey Tooty,
I got to try out my portable fish finder out. I went to where the hennepin cannal and the Rock River meet. The river is up to top of the falls, so it is pretty high. I threw out the 35 foot cord with the transducer. It told me the depth and where the fish were and how deep they were. I just kept throwing it out and and dragging it in. I am going to drag it around my float tube this year. This will be nice in the spring when the fish are deep. I am also going to try putting the transducer on a broom stick and do some side imaging. I will find the fish faster this way, but it will not show me how deep the fish are. It will also work nice in heavy weeds to find the gills. It is nice to have a back up plan to find the fish. I am anxious to try it in the float tube.

Thanks, I look forward to the thoughts and Ideas here....:)
HEY NATE , WELCOMEEEEEEEEEEEE TO ONE OF MY GROUPS . Lots of intertesting stuff on here and I'm sure lots more pics of heavy cover to come this spring if Winter ever leaves !!!!!

Around the Quad Cities, the ponds are about 1 to 2 feet low. The canal is up now that the Rock River is up. I have caught only one nice blue gill out of the hennepin canal, and that was years ago. I usually catch the little ones and give them to the catfishermen for bait. I do catch some nice crappie in the canal. I bet your Mineral pits are about back to normal.

HEY GOOD FOR YOU DILLY and good to hear from ya. Hows the ponds in western Illinois holding up through the draught buddy?
Tooty,
I am going to try a ultra lite ice jigging reel. It is made by ht enterprises. The gear ratio is faster then I prefer at 5:3 to 1, but it has 3 ball bearings. I could not beat the price of $12.00. If I don't like it I can put my okuma back on. I know you get what you pay for, but that is about all I can pay right now. I still want to get the nanofil 6lb. hiviz line to put on it. The line cost more then the reel lol. dilly
Thanks for the welcome -----
some Louisiana input coming
