I guess people do not think of Georgia as a place to catch yellow perch. I fish backwater lakes off the Chattahoochie River about an hour north of Atlanta for these tasty fish. My best one here weighed 1lb. 12oz.. I prefer fishing a 1/32 or a 1/16oz. jig with a tube skirt tipped with a minnow. My go to color is a blue and white tube, but have caught them on many other combinations depending on the conditions.

Yellow Perch in the shallows (some Gills too) in November ,YES! Jig and crawler piece slip floated @4'.They can be caught out in the basin areas drifting and dragging same bait .Yellow Perch are active!
