Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Instead of dropping straight down on these heavy schools of suspension, we casted parallel to the break and counted down 1/8 oz spoons to the active layer before starting the deep water retrieve.......the big biters were 19-21' down, and hot for the spoon.

We contacted some really nice hens.....

The wife and I fished Friday and Saturday this weekend and found fish now over 35-40 fow 15-20 foot down. They are still around the steep breaks but are moving out over the deep flats. It was slow this morning for us but the wind came up and they were snapin.5th ounce pimple in orange crusch was good today. Tipped with waxes

How do you interpret your graph?  Is all of the colored scatter baitfish?  Artifact?  Schools of gills?  I'm still working on mastering electronics.  Thanks in advance for any and all responses!

Adam-

Depending on sensitivity settings, much of the colored scatter can be misleading.....high settings can create clutter around large suspending schools of gills. Setting the sensitivity to 62% will in most cases give you an accurate reading of whats really down there.....Of course the best way to determine the identity of your marks is to drag a spoon through the active layer.
Pertaining to Swedish Pimple Spoons have you found any certain colors or tape patterns to outperform others? I am attempting to increase my "limited" spoon collection, but I would like to make sure that I am buying the correct colors.
I stick with the crushed ice color variations.
I have also found the crushed ice colors good. The orange and pink have been good for us,have'nt fished alot of others. Had Walleyes ,perch and sheep head (drum) on orange this morning .Fished winnebago our largest inland lake.

More gills from the active layer.Crappies too.

Best fish we found were at the 15 ft layer.
