We have success on 1/16th oz white jig with Red/White tubes or curly tails.. cast and retrieve works for us. We continue to try other combinations, but always return to this. Rods are ultralight 4'6"-5'6" with Open or closed face Pluegers strung with 4lb line. Much enjoyment catching the gills on this setup.
Over the yrs I've gone longer in rod length as they became available. Have Ul from 42" to 7ft. ,mostly the 6-7ft'ers get used now. I've always enjoyed using the smallest stickbaits/crank baits. Only the bigger 'Gills hit then. New for this yr, gonna try small spoons with jig/maggot tippeted on behind, maybe a foot or two back. Something I saw here, took trebles off and replaced with a single red hook. Looks good. steve b
