Been liking this discussion.
Fish for walleye on Erie and you'll catch some white perch and you will be disappointed that it is not a walleye.
Thanks for some of these links. Just downloaded 7 books off the Gutenberg.org site.
The most recent book I have read is Scotch Loch Fishing. Not a technical book. Fairly easy read. Author is just talking fishing in the day (1870-1880's). Entertaining use of words and slang. Hard to imagine being concerned about a railroad causing easy access and ruination of a fishery.

He is often quoted in the writings of others, so his status as emeritus was, and is, recognized.
I can't profess to know him well, so thanks!

Appears so, and I just found out about him today!  His favorite fish is the smallmouth Bass which I'm tempted to say is mine as well. Smallie Hibernation ,he might have been among the first to write about it in the U.S.

We have alot of junk, thrift, and used shops. Almost always there are books.
Unfortunately, they are rarely in any order. It takes time to search....
and Lori isn't long on patience when it comes to me
acquiring more fishing books.
