I know this sounds strange, but vintage equipment like fiberglass rods still have a place! We can talk shop and discuss why some vintage gear is just as good (if not better) than the new stuff.

I have 3 vintage fly rods with vintage reels on them..I will try to get some pictures and post...a Grizzley/Fenwick a Phillipson and a Shakesphere Wonderod I just purchased and plan to restore...One has a Airex reel, one a Ocean City 76 and I plan to put a vintage auto with a moving line guide on the Wonderod...Ya gotta love fishing with old glass and fly reels...they are a part of fly fishing history...

If you really want to old school find yourself an old Shakespeare or Heddon bamboo rod. There is nothing like catching fish on a truly handmade rod with flies you have tied yourself.

Howdy all, I just happened across a bunch of old fishing gear from my grandfather. I'm still in nagotiations to accure it all :p It's been up in the rafters for MANY years and don't know the full conditions of the poles yet. I do know there is at least 1 older fly rod and reel. One thing I'll need to know is about repairs should they need some attention. What should I be looking for?

I have 2 fiberglass Fenwicks that are a blast to use.My first is the 5' FS50 2pc with the sliding ringgs on the handle.i bought that in 1983.I also have another Fenwick 2 pc 5'3" with foam grips and aluminum real seat.I recently got that one off Ebay.I'm thinking of buying an eagle claw 2 pc 5'6" soon.I found a couple for around $12.00.
