Starting early for 2011 fishing - everyone who paid last year gets to fish for free this year and is encouraged to bring one friend to join us.

We will be moving slightly more to the South of Route 88 and trying to find great bluegill venues for our members.

Good venues should have most of the following:

1. Parking close to lake - much easier on everyone

2. Public Restroom nearby

3. Flat bank area where we can fit 10 - 20 people at 20ft. space between each person

4. 4 feet of water just 12 foot out or closer to shore - fishing super shallow lakes is tougher on everyone and new anglers

Send people to this forum have them contact me and let's get the party started.

New for 2011 - League Accomplishment Medals. Instead of a competition where someone wins on the day - we will have different milestone awards for all anglers such as 10 lb. of fish, 30 lb. of fish caught, 5 lb. monster fish etc. to go with our other medals.

All members will receive a tackle $40 tackle pack of fishing floats for bluegills, crappie, catfish & carp!! Pass it on, let's get a few people out together around Chicago's suburbs catching bluegill this Spring! I will post the schedule here soon for the beginning of the Season and will need help with lakes. We will a couple of river spots this year.

Illinois Anglers - I will be sending out flyers regarding the league dates next week. April is our orientation month - fishing starts in April! The Chicago Fishing league is forming now.
In Carol Stream, IL Tuesday night 3/31 - I will be hosting a free seminar at Lee's Bait & Tackle which will cover Trout Fishing. The tactics used for trout are nearly identical to bluegill and panfish methods. This seminar is free with ((any)) tackle or bait purchase that evening- we have to be nice to our host so pick up a tub of red worms or hooks please. This will also be the first informal meeting for the fishing league contact me if you are interested in attending either the trout seminar or fishing in the league this Spring & Summer.
The league will feature 6 regular-season fishing dates and one League Championships. There is a regional/National championships as well through another group. This is a bluegill league! The main catch is bluegills with bonus fish including carp, channel catfish, crappie, bass, shiner, bullhead. This is a really fun way to spend a few hours and all the fish are weighed at the end in the spots. Like bowling - the scores are based on total weight for the 4-hour catch and points are given out. Events 5 & 6 will be handicapped events based on the scores of 3 prior league events so the playing field will be evened.
Prizes in this league are for everyone so this is not - give all the prizes to the top 3 anglers and everyone else donates. I've been there- done that no fun.
I hope to see Chicago-area people there Tuesday night and also fishing the league coming up.

Anyone interested in a free Chicagoland seminar? My friend with two tackle stores will be hosting free seminars coming up for bluegills on Urban waters as well as a trout seminar in March. If interested, our League will be host for these in Carol Stream, IL on an upcoming Tuesday night. Drop me a line Chicagoland.
