Reverse Rigging for Senkos and Other Stick Worms

OK, guys... a number of members have asked about the reverse rigging for Senkos, Yum Dingers and similar style worms we used to fish on top of heavy algae and weed mats to get those explosive, blow-up strikes from quality bass during late summer. So, here are a few pics to show this simple adaption...just run the 'tapered' end of the worm in on the front of the off-set worm hook so it can glide over top of the slop easier than the blunt end.

Fish it on 20 to 30 lb Sonic Braid...work it like a scum-frog and inch it along on top of the There is still lots of hot weather bassing to do all over the map, so give it a shot at your local, weedy lake!

I never fish in rivers. Not that I don't want to, it's just that I never really have done that and I am not experienced at river fishing. My only spot on the river in the past 10 years has been the Passaic River by twin bridges in Fairfield. Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever caught a smallmouth bass.

It's just too damn hot!! The bass are lazy. Even when they hit a lure it's half hearted. I had three hits yesterday morning that should have resulted in quality fish, but came up with nothing.

The summer is half over, John. I'm ready when you are. Where ever you want to meet.

Gotta meet up with you there sometime Gary!

The heat and Hydrilla are doing a job on the fishing here in northern NJ. The lily pads and weeds are so thick it's hard to get to the bottom in many areas of our local ponds. One notable exception is a little pond called Bogue Pond in Riverdale. The weeds have died off and the water has turned turquois. Weird. My guess is they put chemicals in there to kill the weeds off. Unfortunately, the fish have disappeared too. And I've caught a ton of quality bass, crappy and trout there up until late June when the water color changed. Makes me mad! As for my current favorite fishing hole, Twin Lakes North, the hydrilla is so thick it's choking out the bite. No happy medium around here. I got lucky last Saturday and caught my new PB there. Then nothing all week long. Today I was fortunate to catch a quality bass dragging a lizard through the weeds on a weighted 3/0 wide gap hook. I sure hope the heat wave breaks sooner than later. Cooler water temps would be a great help.

Sounds like a wonderful layout of a year as a teacher. Fun time dead smack in the middle of the spawning and feeding frenzy period.

They're from Nebraska and Texas, but tend to hold their conferences in the eastern side of the states. The last conference was in Tennessee I believe. Bob Lusk also perform fishery management quite extensively along the eastern states as well. Try to get in contact with him through PondBoss.com, and enjoy the days out there with him and his crew on electro-fishing. He loves company.

Bruce is a bit of a spurt-of-the-moment guy. He's the Houdini of his schedules, even to himself, that none of us can truly pinpoint when and where he will be. The only way to do it is to meet him at a locked location, like the conferences. From there, that's when you can get some fun time with him.

Leo: As a teacher I am off for the summer. Loving every day of it and fishing most days, with the exception of "honey-do list" days…which today is one of! I would gladly travel to hook up with either one of those guys. I would strap my kayak on the roof of my SUV and hit the road pronto at an invite for something like that. I am learning every day, and enjoying the hell out of it.
