Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Just curious, did anyone fish this season with a Tenkara Rod. I used a Fountainhead Caddis rod twice and had a blast.

been researching this and they land some good sized fish on these rods.some pretty big trout and carp and smallmouth bass.so i.m sure they will hold up.there are stiffer and softer versions of the rods.i fish some places that dont allow boats or wading and the fish hold under over hanging bushes and it is tough to cast a fly or bait to where they are.some of these rods are only a couple ounces so fishing at a right angle from shore shouldn;t be a problem.i already taught myself how to cast a fly rod this way.the biggest gill i saw caught last year was under an overhanging willow tree .he was in the tangle of branches that fell into the water.about 6ft from shore in less than 4ft

That will work - done that myself with not-tenkara panfish rods. I've got a 9 and 10 footer just for this. I've also taken the center section out of 15 and 17 foot teles and used them that way.
One way to know if the tenkara will take what you can dish out........
