Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Friday 6/15/12

Arrived at the cottage at Farwell Lake in Jackson County Michigan Friday about 6:00PM. Got everything unloaded then proceeded to the boat Launch on Pine Hill Lake. Unloaded the pontoon and my Wife drove the truck and trailer back to the cottage. I drove the pontoon to the cottage. This is the first time at the lake. The lake was crystal clear and shallow. Found out that the pontoon would only do 2200rpm which is an idle. The motor would die if I tried to add more gas. Finally made it to the cottage told the grand kids wait by the water so I would know where the boat dock was. Got to the launch and tied the boat down. When I rented the cottage I told the lady that my wife was handicapped and She assured me only 2 steps up into the cottage and a straight shot down to the boat dock. She neglected to tell me that the boat dock was a football field and a half down a steep hill all the way. How she planned for the wife to get down let alone up the hill is beyond me. We turn in for the night.

Alright Dick! Go get em' and keep the pics coming. I hope you and your family have an absolute ball.

Looks like you are having a great vacation!!!  Those are some great LMBs.

Great PICTURES!!!!! You are holding that Bluegill management tool like a BABY!!!!!!! I see you also taught your smile to your GRANDAUGHTER!!!!!!!   :-)

Greg just had a hard time holding and taking the picture at the same time. My grand daughter she use to do it all, bait her own hooks take her fish off now since she is hanging around with her older sister she has gone prissy on me but I'm working on it you can believe that. GOOD FISHIN to you Greg.

DICK....Great SMILE!!!!!!! You disguise being a Happy fisherman really well. LOVE the pictures and the story!

Dick it looks like you had a great time. So glad to see that bass didn't get the best of you with the lite tackle. Enjoyed the pics and your big smile :)

Great fishing reports!

My other half, Laurie, wants me to tell you that she is highly ticked off with you.  She grew up in that area, over near Hanover-Horton.  She can probably tell you exactly where you're staying.  Just from the description, I think I might know where you're at.  I've been all over that county, back in my metal-detecting days.  I wasn't fishing back then.  If I ever go back, I'll be in hog heaven.  There's little lakes EVERYWHERE.  Most have public access.  My kayak and I would be everywhere.

You can tell Laurie if I knew I would have definitely asked. It took me 3 hours to find a grocery store in Jackson this place was really out of my realm. We stayed on Rainbow Lake off of Skyline Drive. The only lake I ever fish in Jackson county was Michigan Center the Wolf Lake chain. Nice chain. Well Allen GOOD FISHIN.. and God Bless

thanks for sharing dick, great story and pictures

Michigan Center does a "Carp Carnival" in the summer, can't remember when.  If you're in to carp fishing, they have it!

Thanks Allen but not interested. I do get a lot or toothies out of there though. I love catching Pike and that is a good lake for them toothy critters.

Carp Carnival...?
