Like you Slip......I push on despite sometimes obvious weather impacts but it's in my DNA to "go fishing" and try......A for your effort........your determination has already served you well and will reward you moving forward......I have sometimes got more satisfaction from just a few fish in tough conditions........just to say I avoided the skunk....LOL

Thanks Jeff... its in the DNA is a great way to put it!... I’m afflicted also!

Thanks for the compliment.

20170627-I watched the forecast thru late morning and early afternoon “popcorn” showers were forming without letup… I decided to take my chances and head out to the local lake anyways… grabbed the foul weather gear and within 25 mins I was starting the outboard and heading to one of my favorite shorelines… round two of b.gill spawn was under way so I was after the hens laying back on the shallow breaks.

I continued fishing the pattern of casting between the docks in 3-4 ft of water. Ended up with some bonus 9-10” slot b.gills hitting the tiny jigs/untipped. Not another local fisherman in sight. Usually the locals hit this lake hard early morning and early evening. I was taking advantage of the major solunar period between 14:50pm and 17:50pm.

The method of the day was Long-Casting/.016 Jigs/Lil Minnow and /Pink-Waxie. The bite was relentless and so were the spotty showers. Ended up with a shortened trip due to thunder/lightning the continuous action made up for it.

...20170627- I feel my best when I tag 9-10“ slot fish between the locals docks!...heavily pressured lake Long-Casting/tiny ice jigs/pink waxie tip...

...20170627- caught a few nice B.Crappies during a short downpour… sunshine appeared to allow a snap of this one at 11”

...20170627- dodging showers and winds ended up with a nice showing on a short trip... long casting/ice jigs/pink waxies

20170628----~~<")))))><(---*Pre Summer Period*--71°

20170628~ the weather has been killing me with timing… I need to get on the BOW when the major or minor solunar periods are in effect… minute cast tells me showers are on their way. So I load up the kayak and launch regardless. Im in the market for lightweight summer type rain gear until then I’ll evacuate to the car or leave the trip.

I needed to take the pulse on the shallow slop water bite… one UL Long-Cast/Tiny Jigs and one Slip/Float/Waxie setups should give me the answers.

I tagged a few mid-sized B.Gills on the Slip/Float/Waxie before the weather and thunder started rolling in. another trip shortened by weather. However it was nice to get out on the kayak.

20170628-2nd time out on the kayak this year… short trip due to t’storms just a few short fish

20170629----~~<")))))><(---*Pre Summer Period*--71°

20170629- only had less than 2 hours to fish including drive time there before a line of t’ storms were going to hit.

I continued with my strategy of fishing “between the docks” with the long-cast/.016oz jigs/Lil-Minnow and waxies.

I found the fishing slow on this 20% solunar day even though I was on the Major Period.

Most of the B.Gills were of quality approaching and over the 8” mark.

20170630----~~<")))))><(---* Summer Period*--74°

20170630- found myself fishing a lake I have only logged a couple trips on in my fishing history. It is known for quantities of small B.Gill (not stunted) with some hard to get trophies hunkering down in some very clear waters… gin clear with weed growth down approaching 20-0’ FOW. This makes for difficult presentations to the avg angler using large diameter monos and floros over the 2# mark.

The water is filled with structure, wood laydowns and weeds 2# mono would fail miserably with lost fish. Typically my set-ups are thin super lines within the 2# dia mark of mono with 8# strength to aid in stealthy presentations as well as the ability to crank the big ones in.

I found a natural shoreline in the main lake loaded with eater slot B.Gills that provided plenty of action with my mainstay approach of long-cast the tiny jigs. Today proved no exception to the rule with many fish being tagged. The large B.Gills hitting toward sunset.

Great day for the action on the ULs.

20170630-best B.Gill was the last fish of the day at mid 8’s Long-Casting/Micro-Jigs/Pink-Waxie

Very nice. Looks like you need to visit this water hole a bit more often.

Thanks Leo… My sister and brother in law just recently bought a cabin on this lake. I sure will be taking advantage of the situation. LOL...Ive found good fishing on this lake in terms of large quantities of eater slot fish… hope to tag a Master Angler or two in the upcoming seasons. Looking over the database for the year reveals only one LMB recorded.
