Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Spent the last 6 months fishing (800+ fish) with a 7 foot telescopic pole, various sized hooks(6 -32), micro plastic baits and hot dogs. All from the shore and on 2# test

What I've learned is that bluegill will eat just about anything.

Fishing with no indicator or bobber increased my hook up ratio

A small fish is as good as a big fish especially if the goal is the pull on the line and the smile.

I kept it simple this year and I simply caught fish and had the time of my life.

You can spend as little or as much as you like and still catch

Yes, just plain old dollar store hot dogs. I use them plain but did let them sit in the sun. I use a pendulum cast and simply flip out the line. The rig is only effective for about 8-12 feet

I like to stand on a wall where the wind blows to and just drop or cast parallel to the wall ,The Gills and Pseeds Perch and sometimes Crappie stack up waiting for food to come to them .I've gotten some nice size(for my lake)that way . Good thing they don't think to themselves "a hot dog ? is this guy kidding " Ha ha they work , its where ya put the bait ! I use a short rod most times and pitch where I've been fishin

Holy smoke! Size 32?! I'm having a hard time just tying on size 24. Great way to enjoy your days. I recently got myself a 6.5ft telescopic pole as well. Can't wait to try that out, using 2lbs and 1lb test line..whenever the opportunity may be.

Leo , where do you get1 lb test line? and how do you see that . I want to fish 1 lb test but with my eyes closed ,holding the line away from the reel to feel hits . Like Trout fishing in a busy NJ Trout stream.

Ha! I just placed a big order with this place last night! The Asso line is the BOMB!

Best line I ever used. I use the Little Atom  plastics for micro fishing. Bluegills just love the plastic. I guess someone is stocking up for ice season

Yep! A few spools of new line, a large assortment of tungsten jigs, new jig box, a panfish toothpick, (too cheap to pass up!)  and a splurge .....kahtoola microspikes for my boots. No more falling on the ice, hopefully!

Got suggestions in the past to try:

1 of the 150yds Berkley Nanofil 1lb test

1 of the 300yd Berkley Fireline 2lbs test

Very tempted to get 0.25 and 0.5lb test Fireline. Forgot (just got out from a long 5 hrs meeting) to mention that I got the lines from Amazon.com

Leo I use snelled 32 hooks on pre rigged lines. This way I can just hook up and if I break off I can just tie on a new  rig at the pond. My line total is 7 feet in length.
