Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

    Hey Guy's

Had a decent day on the water yesterday. I was late getting out, was waiting for a friend and decided to have a cast or two around the launch ramp/ dam. The recent rains have swollen Lake Hopatcong to near overflow conditions. I was casting a Rapala CD01 on my G. Loomis SR782-1 IMX rod paired to a Daiwa JDM Certate 1003 spooled with 4lb Berkley crystal Fireline with a leader of 6lb Vanish. First cast towards the dam and I came tight to a good fish, drag was screaming and fish was surging! The current added to the fight for sure. When I finally caught a glimpse I saw a nice smallie.  She weighed almost 4lb on my boga grip.

The rest of the day was spent catching yellow perch, bluegills, crappies, LM Bass and a few rock bass. Lake is slowly cooling off, so the bite is kinda off. Next few weeks will see the Yellow Perch and Pickerel take over!!!! Can't Wait.

Nice smallie Brian.....we don't got many down here ..the closest is in lake Guntersville

Yep, now that is a nice fish. What also impresses me is that you know the names and numbers of all your gear.

The most I could do is maybe tell you what type lure or line I had.

Nice job Bud . Man I have to get up there. Are you in the club?
