Do you love big bluegill?

Don't give up on them Jason .They will catch fish for you if they are fresh .They turn brown when old or dead and are basically useless then .They have caught many panfish, Trout and Bass for me through the years here in New Jersey.
Did you catch fish there at that spot on any thing else?
I think they are too hard for fishing, maybe other people have had luck with them but I don't care for them.
i have used meal worms for a while, it seemed like when I was younger we would catch fish on them left and right. and now they don't seem to work at all. Wax worms always ALWAYS out fish them for me.
Where I live mealworms are candy, maybe the fish in your area just don't like them. I use a baitholder and a long rod and pretty much dap them. Or just slightly jig them. It's crazy if you don't have a fish take them around here.
I agree, don't give up on them. If you're not catching fish on other baits then it could be because of a different factor.
I've had the same experience with mealworms. They produce few fish for me, and don't live long on the hook, no matter how fresh they are. Redworms always outfish them, and wax worms completely crush them (and red worms). Waxies are the most productive live bait I've ever used for bluegill. If they'd had those in California when I was young, my lifetime tally of BG would be much higher :-)
Wally World usually has them in San Diego, if there's one near you, that'd probably be worth a shot if you need some in a hurry.
I prefer wax worms to any other bait for my jigs. I order my wax worms from ebay.
If you are in a hurry, maybe like a pet shop but ebay is much cheaper.
