Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

SO the way I always catch bluegill is to find some structure and use a weighted cork (for casting) and snap on above the hook about 24" or so and wait. I have read a lot about using a slip cork and am not sure how to rig it. It seems the bait will sit on the bottom, or do you use a weight above the hook so the bait floats a little off bottom?

Matt, you have to use a float stop set to the depth you want to fish. Checkout this group Matt ,it should help you. http://bigbluegill.com/group/slipfloating
Thanks a ton John!

I've been using the Euro style floats this season, really just floating sticks with an eye at the bottom. I clip this eye into the swivels clip and then run the line through swivels eye. This way I can put on different size floats, or even remove the float without unrigging everything.

To use a slip float, you need to learn to tie a proper stop knot, what people usually call a "bobber stop." You can buy special pre-tied float stops and they don't cost much. But I just tie mine the old fashioned way, fusing readily available monofilament line.
I like to use bright, neon green 6-8 lb test line on my cane poles, and this stuff also makes highly visible stop knots - without having to buy or keep up with yet another trinket.

You'll find the bobber stop I use on this page: http://www.sportsmanschoice.com/terminal_tackle_knots.htm
