Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

HAVE YOUR CAMERA READY! HAVING GOOD LUCK FISHING ON BOTTOM.

SORRY, DIDN'T GET A PHOTO OF A BEAUTIFUL GREEN SUNFISH 7" TO 8". AT FIRST, I THOUGHT IT WAS A BASS. BUT IT HAD A BRIGHT ORANGE BELLY & RED EYE. SAW IT SWIMMING WITH A SCHOOL OF SMALL BLUEGILL. DROPPED MY BAIT NEAR IT & LET IT SINK TO THE BOTTOM, WHERE IT GOBBLED UP MY WORM. I RELEASED IT. HOPEFULLY, I CAN CATCH IT AGAIN & SEND IN A PHOTO. IT IS ALWAYS A THRILL TO CATCH A NEW SPECIES! I HOPE IT FINDS A PARTNER & A GOOD PLACE TO SPAWN.

HAD VERY GOOD LUCK FISHING THE OUTSIDE EDGE OF A RIVER DOWNSTREAM FROM A DAM WITH A SPLIT SHOT & #8 GOLD HOOK ON BOTTOM. USUALLY, FISH WITH A HUNK OF CRAWLER, TRIED A WHOLE WORM(THEY ARE VERY LIVELY & FISH ATTACKED FEROCIOUSLY). CAUGHT SOME NICE 7" BLUEGILLS. WOW DO THEY FIGHT WHEN THEY GET OUT IN THE CURRENT.

HAVE A CAMERA NOW & WILL SEND IN SOME PHOTOS OF MY NEXT TRIP. HAD SOME PRETTY GOOD LUCK WITH BIG ROCK BASS WADING BELOW A DAM LAST YEAR. WILL SEE IF I CAN CATCH A BIG MICHIGAN BEAUTY.

IF I AM LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET A FRIEND TO GO NIGHT FISHING(WIFE IS OUT OF TOWN WITH THE CAR), I HOPE TO SEND  IN A PHOTO OF BULLHEADS, THAT ARE KEEPING THE BLUEGILLS TOO SMALL.

2 LADIES FISHING THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY RELEASING 7" + BLUEGILLS &  A 7" ROCK BASS. MAYBE, THEY WILL CATCH ON, AFTER THEY CLEAN THEIR CATCH. DOES ANYONE REALLY ENJOY CLEANING FISH?

Good report and sounds like you had a good time while catching some nice fish. I always try to have a camera with me because I don't keep many fish I try to get a pic of the catch before I release em.

Congrats on your catch.
