Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Thinking about getting another fly rod, Like a 2wt 3wt or a 4wt around 6ft to 7ft long only for Gill's. But how far can I cast with such a small weight class? and also what size flies are suitable to cast?

Get a  Winston  TMF  4 wt.  ----  a  2 pc.  8 ft.  soft rod that is great for panfish.   Come to Louisiana and try mine if want.

The Orvis superfine touch is a great way to feel every twist and turn. It's a bit hefty in the price range, but totally worth it. The Orvis Patriot fly is a great fly for bluegill too.

Just my 2 cents worth.  I have a 6-1/2' #2 that was made by a rod building friend.  I originally purchased it for trout on small streams after trying to work a 9"-#5 through the brush.  Since I live far from trout streams, I started using it on local lakes fishing from a kayak.  I have had a lot of fun catching bluegills with it and it works great in the kayak.  Thing is if, as has been mentioned, you catch a big monster it is hard on a fish you may want to release.  That may be the only drawback I can see.
