Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I fished from 6:30 to 11:30 AM today and things were slow on the lake. I caught most of my gills on a foam spider and and a chartreuse popper Carl sent me. All of the fish were small. I also landed 2 smallmouths around a foot long and I had a largemouth hooked but lost it--another small one. Wading for gills this time of the year makes it tough to find the bigger ones. I think they must be in the deep water. No pictures, they were too small. I hope everyone is doing well.

THANKS FOR TRYING MY POPPER; AND SPIDER STUFF;;  WISH YOU HAD CAUGHT BIGGER FISH !  BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME !

hey Bruce... have you tried fishing heavy cover?

Hi Slip,

I found some vegetation walking the shore line. I think what I should have done was fish the back water where there were lilly pads. I actually forgot I wanted to do that today. It was only about 1/2 mile from where I was fishing by car. Then I just had a short walk through the woods. There's shade and the shallow water is cover with the lilly pads.
