Leo all though I don't know much about the topic of kayaks now the motor makes it a whole different animal especially with 55 lbs of thrust. Now you've captivated my interest. I have a Zoar sport,  14 foot sit in kayak by Necky.  I feel pretty safe in it but the sit in does present some issues like where to put the cooler.  I weigh in about 270 (not fat, just  height challenged) and it handles me fine.  There weren't many sit ons available when I got it.  If I were buying today I would check out the Nucanoe my buddy has one and loves it.  Or some other sit on.  There are a lot more options for customizing them and some are really designed with the fisherman in mind.  The small boats are very stealthy, I think I actually have better luck than when I use the bass boat.
