Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Anybody ever used tiny, live crawdads for sunnies ? Or more specifically, for big Redears ? I know I could catch a bunch of "cricket sized" dads..... Just wondering how they might work ?

Hmmmm...

In northern WI, we used the tiny crawdads for gills & perch.  We also used the white meat from the tail for bait.  It seemed we caught bigger fish on crawdads.
I've used them for Brown Trout with success  and Bass but not Gills.Recently while catching Gills flyrodding  Poppers I saw small Crawfish(Crawdads) in the shallow weed clumps so you got me thinking . How deep are you catching Gills and what time of day are you catching them ? I would like to employ this tactic at my local lake .Thanks!

John, I have been catching the Gills are RE's in about 7 to 10ft. I haven't even started before 11am.But they have bit from the time I got there, until the time I left.

It's looking like I might be able to go again Monday, and for a few different reasons, it will probably be an earlier trip. Will post my results.

Peace,

Fish

Hey Badger, and of course "bigger" is what we are after, right ?  :)
