Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Back in the old days the old mountain men would get together for a rendevous  , Tootie and I were just wondering who would be interested and like to join us in early Sept on Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee  for a Old fashion bluegill rendevouis . This wont be a fishing tournament but just a BBG get together for a good time catching fish, eating good, swapping flies and lies.  Does this not sound like too much fun ! We arn't getting any younger, let us know what you think!   LOFR

The Four "F's!"

all bbg members are welcome to attend this first meeting;;  fish fry;; fishing;; fly tying demo;s  just a get to know you type thing!  going to be real fun guys!!

Hate to say it guys but I'm gonna have to bail out, truck drivers curse got me again, hard to make plans in this line of work.

Be sure & post plenty of "live & on the scene" pics.

Well, Johnny, thanks for doing what you do.
With trucks and those who drive them, well.... Wouldn't be much fishing.

Change in plans - last minute details.

I DO plan on heading down but now I am looking for a BBG member who wants to do some float fishing on the lake with a boat. If possible and someone is interested, shoot me some details.

I will be arriving on Friday at 6:00 a.m. and ready-for-action.

Let's see what we can cook up, what your strategy for fishing this lake might be and see if we can't connect. I have already started tying lines for fishing the stumps and I have an idea of how to attack them. This might be all wrong for this time of year - but you tell me. I will have a boat load of floats and light jigs as well as my newest hooks-to-leaders!

I just tied up leaders on my new hooks and am very excited to deploy some of these for ultra-finesse fishing. I hear it is tough fishing there this time of year- tough fishing suits the tricks I might bring along.

Who is up for some serious fishing? Has a boat I won't sink (you know I am a land-lover)? Check in. My other option is to rent a really tiny boat from a stranger and put around that lake all by my lonesome. (Probably not a good idea)!

Johnny

Friday a.m. - I am now going to arrive Friday morning and without a +1.

Who is still going?

Johnny, come on down , I'm packing my truck right now , Carl and I will be there about noon on Friday , and we still have one bedroom with 2 beds open if you want to share expenses with the big house, others will filter in all day friday . I am  targeting ribs coming off the grill at 7:30 to give everybody a chance to get there.  Campfire after that!   We will be the best Liar 's at Reelfoot , so be safe and get there as soon as you can . LOFR

Give me some details regarding the house- I would lean towards splitting some expense on that.

Now, I just need a boat / boat partner...

Johnny

Just woke up from after dinner nap, Ok I believe the price is 150 per night, or what what ever the cost divided by how many stay LOFR

I am sure that would be fine to split- how many rooms to the house- the wildcard is that I just got a cold / allergies so that means snoring and ugly night sounds for certain.

I am a terrible house guest now. I am hoping that it will get better but staying up late prepping tackle won't help along with the drive... If there is a corner to stow my carcass - I am still committed to getting all my gear in the car, packing a ton of bait in ice and making my way down.

Still not sure about a boat...

I will take you up on bunking at the house so there is a little expense that you won't have to pay - splitting the cost will just mean we have way more money for bluegill bait and "miscellaneous" expenses.

I am brand new to this lake so I will take all the help I can get.  Deep holes, spider-rigs, stump rigs - what is the strategy - I need to rig up for these.

Who all is coming - where are we meeting first??

Email me some contact information - cell phones if you can - john@chicagofishingschool.com .

Would love to get some solid plans for Friday, Saturday fishing - see who has space on a boat if possible for anyone wanting to do some float fishing in the trees.

There is a boat rental there but I am going to assume a BBG member has a much better boat than could be picked up at the rental. I can bring snacks, sodas gas$$ and a boat-load of floats. One lucky boat captain will get to see the prototype gill hooks close and personal and will get to see secret never-before seen crappie & gill tactics.

Did I mention all the fresh spikes you care to put on the hook???  If you wish to hook up on some crappie and big gills - I will have a 10 foot mesh bag for us to fill. I might request you have a ginormous cooler and can fillet panfish like Edward Scissorhands - o.k., now I have jinxed it.

Seriously - anyone have space or need a boat partner for Friday p.m. and Saturday? If not, I will head to Bo's boat rental.

Johnny
