Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I make bluegill chum for fishin in ponds or lakes. it works pretty well for me. maybe you could try it out if you like and catch some fish. i use stail bread, egg shells, a can of corn, crackers, grits, tony chacheres, pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, vanillia flavoring, coffee, flour, anise seeds, and a little water. just mix all of them together and add only enough water to get it to stay together. after you do that put in a gallon sized zip lock bag and freeze it. the amount of ingredients depends on how much chum you want to make. you can also use this for catfish too!! hope you like it!! if you have any suggestions on adding or making it better i would like to hear them!!

You can find cottonseed meal cakes [they are more like small boards]  if you can find them. Put them in the water and they slowly disenigrate. You attract the small ones and the bigger ones will come. Check your local regulations.

The original Moon Pie was first made with cottonseed meal so it has to work.

When you say right consistency, what would that be?  l just mixed up some of the dry ingredients but haven't put in the liquid as I don't know if it should be doughy or crumbly?

Can't wait to try it.  I have tried several of my own concoctions with limited success.

I've been using plain old dog and cat food, lately. I let is soak the night before, adding just enough water to make it soft and damp-clingy, but not soupy. I want it to hang together for the toss, so I can place it where I want it. Then, in the water, I want it to break up and spread out. So that's the consistency you're looking for. Accuracy in delivery is important.

So far it hasnt been as earth shaking a method as I'd envisioned. The little ones love it; I mean, they tear it up. So that is a good thing.

But it hasnt drawn in the lunkers from the other side of the lake, that I know of. Hours of feeding keep the small ones happy, but I have yet to attribute hauling in the slab-siders because of it.

This may have nothing to do with the product itself, or the presentation of course. It may just be that the places I have access to aren't holding those coveted whoppers.

you want it where if u get a piece of it and it should be like a dough. after u get the chum finished u can just put it in a grocery bag and freeze it so when u use it melts in the water slowy.
