Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Just purchased a Fountainhead Tenkara Caddis pole and need help. I researched warm water Tenkara and found most information on the web  is about trout.

Just wondering if anyone has information for bluegill fishing with Tenkara. Line types, flies, etc.

Thanks

Heck, been having that for a long time. You can get a telescoping pole at Wal-Mart. Shoot, they'll sell you+as many as you want.
And if you really want to say you spent some money, buy one that says "crappie" on it somewhere...

Where I find the Japanese methods to really offer benefit is in the terminal tackle end of things

Kelly - Thanks.. I use the site for equipment purchases and find it a wealth of information for fixed line fishing. I use tenkara, keiryu , seiryu as well as micro  technique when fishing. My poles run from 1.5 to 4.5 meters with the lighter at about 1 oz and the heavier running about 3.5 oz.

Back in the day we used to call these cane poles, lol.

Same principle but the japanese poles just a bit lighter and able to telescope down to about 12 - 14 inches. Can't do that with a cane pole.  Short poles with #20 or less hook and 2# test is deadly in the margins. Right now the only US company making short telescopic pole is South Bend. Pole currently runs about 5.00 USD for a 1.5 meter pole . Pair this with a either a #20 or less fly or hook and hold on . You're micro fishing for less then 10.00 USD.

Or I can make a cane pole for free. Cut it to any size I want. Plenty of bamboo around here.

Absolutely, One of my poles is the top section of a 10 foot BNM cane pole. I wrapped the handle for a more traditional look. Works great but does weight over 5 oz .

What you wrap the handle with?

Twine - I pick it up in the dollar store and just wrap and finish with crazy glue
